Summary
The Assistance for Arts Teaching (AAE) program is a consolidation of the 3 previously funded grant programs offered under the AAE: Arts in Education Development and Dissemination (AAEDD); Professional Development for Arts Educators (PDAE); and the Arts in Education National Programme (AENP). Due to the large overlap in the grantee pool and the services provided across the various programs, the Department is now offer the AAE plan as a single contest . This one competition provides greater flexibility for applicants and allows them to focus on a more holistic approach to learning that is based on the development and dissemination of arts-based educational programming and the delivery of sustained and intensive professional person development for arts educators, teachers, and principals, while creating new partnerships and strengthening existing partnerships betwixt LEAs and arts organizations.
The AAE Program promotes arts education for students, including disadvantaged students and students who are children with disabilities. Specifically through activities such as (a) professional person evolution for arts educators, teachers, and principles; (b) developing and disseminating accessible instructional materials and arts-based educational programming, including online resources in multiple arts disciplines; and (c) community and national outreach activities that strengthen and expand partnerships among schools, local education agencies (LEAs), communities, or centers for the arts, including national centers for the arts.

- Competitive Preference Priority 1— Applications From New Potential Grantees: Under this priority, applicants must (a) not had an agile discretionary grant nether the program from which it seeks funds, including through membership in a grouping application submitted in the final 5 years before the deadline of this plan. This includes participation in the AENP, the AAEDD, and PDAE programs.
- Competitive Preference Priority 2— Applicants that are National Nonprofit Organizations: Under this priority, eligible entities that are eligible national nonprofit organizations will be given priority. Eligible organizations must be supported past a staff which may include volunteers, or affiliates at the Country and local levels, and must demonstrate effectiveness or high-quality plans for addressing arts teaching activities for disadvantaged students or students who are children with disabilities.
- Invitational Priority: For FY2021, priority is given to Arts Therapy. Applicants must describe how they volition include art therapy in their project to better cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, raise social skills, or reduce and resolve conflicts and distress.

Supplement-Not-Replace: This program involves supplement-not-supplant funding requirements. In accordance with department 4624(b) of the ESEA, funds must be used to supplement, and non supplant, non-Federal funds that would otherwise be used for activities authorized under this program.

Eligibility Details
Eligible applicants are
- An LEA or consortium of LEAs in which 20 percent or more of the students (aged 5-17) served past the LEA or LEAs inside the consortium are from families with an income below the Federal poverty line (including public charter schools) and that may work in partnership with 1 or more of the following:
- An SEA;
- An institution of higher didactics;
- The Bureau of Indian Education;
- A museum or cultural establishment; or
- An eligible national nonprofit organization, or another private bureau, institution, organization.
- An Sea; an institution of college instruction; a museum or cultural institution; Bureau of Indian Didactics; or private bureau, establishment, or organization, that must partner with an eligible LEA, and that may partner with some other eligible entity.

Notice of Intents are optional and were to be submitted by Feb 1, 2021. Applications were to be submitted past March 1, 2021.
This plan funds on a triennial footing. A similar timeline is anticipated for 2024.
Award Details
Approximately $sixteen,500,000 is available in funding. Between 20-25 awards will be granted. Awards range from $375,00- $2,000,000. The boilerplate award will be $675,000. The project menstruation is up to 60 months. This program does not require cost sharing or matching.
